AyurYoga Massage

This is a rare kind of therapeutic massage, created and developed by Grandmaster Kusum Modak from Pune, India, who was direct student and disciple of Yoga Guru Shri B.K.S. Iyengar. I was truly blessed to learn this massage directly from Kusum Modak and to receive a personalized Teachers’ training from her.

It has been intelligently designed, as a combined work of Ayurveda and Yoga (AyurYoga), giving to the body multiple benefits at physical, mental and spiritual level.

AyurYoga is a stimulating massage, using deep-penetrating strokes with the hands and feet. It is based on Yoga stretches, which help going deep into the tissues.

Description of Ayurvedic Yoga Massage :

Massage is done on a mattress, directly on the floor. The receiver remains in a passive mode, yet alert and helping with his normal breathing.

The giver performs massage and gives yoga-stretches from top to bottom on each joint, according to the need and capacity of the receiver, staying in tune with the rhythm of receiver.

During the massage, oil and a special herbal powder (Calamus) are used, with a detoxifying, exfoliating, anti-septic and anti-inflammatory effect.

The massage helps moving the toxins into the circulatory system, brings more vital energy into the body and helps the natural alignment of the body.

The combination of oil, herb, rhythmic massage movement and yoga stretches helps to create a balance in the body’s elements, with a supplementary calming effect on the mind.
